The publication presents information on social and economic situation of capitals of republics in the structure of the Russian Federation, central cities of territories (krai), regions (oblast), autonomous region and autonomous areas (okrug) as well as cities with population of 100 thousands persons and over. Comparative characteristics of the centres of federal districts are also given in the publication.

The publication is organized according to the location of cities by the subjects within the respective federal district.
